Grants : Tips & Tricks

While the Elks National Foundation (ENF) has made the grant application process much easier in recent years, there are a few tips and tricks of the trade that may help you through the process.

General Tips (All Grants)
  • Ensure you highlight and specifically identify how Elks members will be involved in the project. No Elks involement, no grant.
  • Do not allocate more than 10% of the budget to advertising activities.
  • Consider creating a local lodge Grants Committee to organize and plan the project.
  • Consider assigning a Grants Coordinator who can apply for grants online thus eliminating some of the burden of the Lodge Secretary.

Beacon Grant Tips
  • Ensure the specified project is a brand new project and not one that the lodge has done previously
  • Do not use the grant to fund items for the state's special project (the MN Elks Youth Camp) as these are expected to be funded separately.
