Elks National Foundation
Our Mission
The mission of the ENF is to help Elks build stronger communities. We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work. We provide tomorrow's leaders, our youth, with lifelong skills; honor the Elks' pledge to never forget our veterans; help the state Elks associations accomplish their charitable objectives; and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities.
Student Scholarships
The Elks National Foundation (ENF) is a leading provider of student scholarships throughout the country. Student scholarships are available to a wide range of students through both the local lodge and ENF. Below are a few of the scholarships available through ENF. Contact your local Elks Lodge to learn about additional scholarships available to students in the community.
Most Valuable Student (MVS): Established in 1933, the Elks National Foundation has helped thousands of students who are at or near the top of their class, active in school and community activities and are recognized as leaders by their peers. Through the efforts of those participating in the Ribfest in August, we have monies available this year to award scholarships here at the local level. This year all applications must be submitted online. To obtain more information or to apply for this scholarship go to the Elks national web site here
Deadline for application is typically the beginning of December. Applications are made online.
Legacy Award:
The Legacy Award scholarship is open to children and grandchildren of Elk members in good standing in the Order. The ENF Legacy Awards contest provides educational assistance to children and grandchildren of Elk members who are high school seniors, going on to college, and exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation : Knowledge, Charity, Community, Integrity. This application process is made directly to the Grand Lodge (national) level and can only be submitted online. You can obtain more information going to the Elks national website here. The Deadline for applying for the Legacy Award is generally the 1st of February.
Emergency Educational Grant (EEG):
The EEG program provides financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks who wish to obtain or further their education. See the Elks national website here for more information. Please call 773-755-4732 or email [email protected] to request an application. Applications become available May 1 and must be submitted to the Elks National Foundation by October 31.
Community Programs
Through the Community Investment Programs, the Elks make a difference in the local community by providing grant monies to support a variety of needs be it youth programs, veterans programs and more. - Winona Lodge #327: Implemented a community garden to help those with developmental disabilities learn healthy eating habits and provide fresh produce throughout the summer.
- Red Wing Lodge #845: Holds a youth bike rodeo each spring to teach kids bike safety and provide new bikes for those in need.
- Brainerd Lodge #615: Hosts hot meals weekly for local veterans and their families while enrolled in the local community college.
- Eveleth Lodge #1161: Provides supplemental weekend food backpacks to local kids in need
